The People's Republic was Established 15th September 1946.This order was instituted 18th June 1947 and came in three classes 1st Class badge, 2nd Class badge and 3rd Class badge
This Order was instituted on the anniversary of Georgy Dimitrov of the communist leader. Not manufactured until 1951.
The decoration was bestowed on both military and civilians (Bulgarian Citizens or foreign nationals) for "outstanding merits" and particular achievements"
A total 19,117 were awarded for all classes
